While it's true that some entry level jobs in the field of quality control can be attained with only a high school diploma, most jobs in this field will require some specialized training. The Bachelor of Science in Quality Control program at Kennedy-Western University comprehensively address Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Total Quality Management (TQM) through courses in statistical and industrial quality control; quality engineering and management; quality functions within organizations; and ISO 9000 quality standards. The bachelor's level program emphasizes basic SQC and TQM terminology and methodologies. Courses include Introduction to Quality in Manufacturing, Probability and Statistics for Quality, Methods for the Improvement of Quality and Fundamentals of Industrial Quality Control.

Some are able to find jobs in the quality control field after receiving training from a professional technical school. However, some of the fields that students may have a particular area of interest in, such as electronics, will require them to have at least an associates degree or a 2-year degree from a properly accredited college. It is estimated that there are over 75 colleges in the United States with programs in quality control technology. Some of these schools offer four-year programs where you can specialze in one particular field. In order to work in the field of chemistry, biology or physics most students will need to have a received a bachelor's degree. Students will find that most college degree programs place heavy emphasis on statistical quality control and total quality management.
