The Safety Engineering program at Kennedy-Western University is a discipline which is regulatory driven as well as technology driven, and as such is continually evolving with new legal and regulatory requirements being addressed by safety professionals. New interpretations of the discipline are also introduced by innovative technology, and Kennedy-Western continues to adapt the Safety Engineering program as the needs of the industry change.

The U.S. Department of Labor also reports that "the number of biomedical engineering jobs will increase by 31.4 percent through 2010, double the rate for all other jobs combined." Both of these statements are great news for those interested in pursuing a career in engineering. As in all of the many fields of encompassed in engineering, biomedical engineers are creative thinkers and problem solvers. Biomedical engineers are specifically interested in ways to advance biology and medicine. They work directly with health care professionals. The work in the pharmaceutical industry developing new medicines. The work with manufacturers in the development of life saving devices such as pacemakers and heart valves. They make possible the technology of joint replacement. Unlike some other fields of engineering such as mechanical, electrical or civil, biomedical engineering entry-level job opportunities are usually limited to those who hold graduate degrees.
